Name: Jay
Age: Eighteen Years
Gender: Female
Species: Wolf
Sexuality: Straight, albeit not really a matter of much thought.
Appearance:
Personality: Jay's personality is largely that of a typical wolf, and as such, she is extremely nervous and cautious most of the time. A very submissive creature in both forms, she rarely asserts herself, and would flee rather than fight - perhaps that is less of the wolf and more of the human that came before. Jay cannot control her shifts, at least not without supreme effort - and those she does control are most often extremely painful and leave her weakened and suffering from flashbacks and nightmares for up to a day or two. Instead, it seems that her shift automatically goes to the wolf form, perhaps as it is where she feels more secure. It is only when she is extremely frightened that she shifts back to the human form unwillingly, and often ends up 'stuck' in it until she can summon the power to shift back.
This leaves her with an ever present fear of her own power as a shifter, and she is very insecure about it entirely. Jay prefers to hide behind the animal mask, relying on her instincts and the fact that she is a relatively dangerous animal to keep her safe. She's not very happy, though she doesn't truly know how to express that. She often has trouble expressing her emotions.
History: In all honesty, Jay doesn't remember much, and most of what she does know comes from the flashbacks she gets when she forces a shift. Of course, she's not entirely sure that they are true, and most of her memories are blocked, which are probably a result of trauma.
Her first memories are of a gentle hand stroking her hair, and a tremulous female voice singing lullabies. It is from one of these soft memories that she remembers her first name - Jay. They are of the few good memories, and she clings to it when she's lost in a sea of nightmares. After that, it's mostly angry voices, and she once recognized the female voice, only this time raised in a shrill scream and begging. Then a simple sight - blood pooling on a tile floor. After that, she does remember something clearly.
The first time she shifted.
She remembers the terror washing away as she changed form completely, even though the pain of the shift was ever present. And then she remembers running, bright lights, screeching. Later on, she decided that she was nearly hit by a car. And after that, it's almost entirely blank again.
But since that first shift, she's been alone. And, almost always, in her wolf form, except when something scares her into shifting back. She's never forced herself to do a human shift, as it's the form she never wants to take. Instead, it's better to hide.

Appearance:
Human: While Jay is rarely in her human form, when she is, it isn't exactly well cared for. Her hair, often at whatever length it has grown to since her last human shift, is a dark brown shade. Her fingernails are ragged, maintaining the same trim that her wolf form had on its nails. An almost constant tremor seems to consume her whenever she is in this form, but that may also come from the fact she most often has a human shift when she is incredibly afraid. Her clothing is the same with consistency, considering she never changes, as she has no stock of human clothing available. She wears a simple dull green t-shirt, tossed over a pair of loose fitting jeans and a ragged pair of tennis shoes. Her eyes are the same dark golden shade as her animal form, though they always seem to be moving and trying to take in everything and so are often hard to catch the color of.
Animal: Jay is, well, considerably more at ease in her animal form. It's almost a comfort blanket, protecting her from the world, and even her appearance reflects this. There's nothing fancy about her appearance, not really - simply a gray wolf with no remarkable features, besides being rather small for her breed. However, her pelt is almost constantly in a good state of hygiene, and though she is small, she is well fed. She seems confident, if a lot less human, in this form. Often, she seems more animal with little trace of the human shift left in her. Perhaps it is all the time she spends in her shifted form, for she seems to have more insticts of a wolf than of a human. Her eyes are the ever present dark golden color.

RP Example:
It was time to hunt.
She didn't ever think twice about hunting. Perhaps the human long ago would have been repulsed, but she wasn't really human any longer. Instead, head raised to catch the scents on the wind, she tracked her prey. She was a wolf, and she was hungry. So she would hunt. It was second nature. Or not even second - perhaps it was first nature. Jay had never understood all the words that flew through her head. They were so... Human. And so she tried to quell them where she could.
And she spotted her prey up ahead, dashing the words from her head and with them all clear human thought. It was as if she dove deeper into the wolf form, truly becoming what she wanted to be. Surging forward, unthinking, simply doing. Perhaps, it seemed, luck was with the unthinking wolf, for she soon was carrying a hare with a broken neck. It was time to find a safe place to eat. She didn't trust being out in the open.
